FAZIT

Die Haute Couture Woche zeigte eine Mischung aus Überraschungen, Eleganz und einigen weniger starken Momenten. Bei den Debüts setzteJonathan Anderson bei Dior klar den Akzent, während auchMatthieu Blazys Chanel mit einer überraschenden Leichtigkeit und frischen Inszenierung überzeugen konnte. Beide Häuser hoben sich angenehm ab von den oft vorhersehbaren Ästhetiken von Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab oder Celia Kritharioti, die weiterhin stark auf bodenlange, eng geschnittene Kleider mit Glitzer, Federn oder Pelz setzen und die Models oft an unantastbare Göttinen des alten Griechenlands erinnern lassen.

Viktor & Rolf enttäuschten in dieser Saison ein wenig, da die Kollektion im Vergleich zu früheren innovativen Silhouetten und außergewöhnlichen Looks eher unscheinbar wirkte. Umso beeindruckender war Ashi Studio, das mit außergewöhnlichen Materialien überraschte und als einziges Label am letzten Tag alle drei Top Looks präsentierte, um hier fair zu bleiben, muss man erwähnen, dass der letzte Tag als Ausklang diente: wenig bis keine Überraschungen und kaum bekannte Namen. Im Vergleich dazu war der Beginn der Woche besonders stark: Schiaparelli eröffnete mit einer der stärksten Kollektionen und Inszenierungen. Die runde Form des Petit Palais, die im Laufsteg übernommen wurde, schuf eine intime Atmosphäre, in der die Looks aus mehreren Perspektiven wirken konnten, ohne nostalgisch zu sein. Daniel Roseberry überzeugte erneut mit moderner Interpretation klassischer Couture.

Valentinos „Specula Mundi“ war wahrscheinlich die modernste Inszenierung der Woche. Mit einem Wechsel von Techno zu instrumentaler Musik und einer runden, hellen Bühne entstand eine dynamische, zeitgemäße Präsentation, die gleichzeitig die Eleganz und den Geist von Valentino Garavani ehrte.

Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch die indische Handwerkskunst, die bei Gaurav Gupta und Rahul Mishra beeindruckend zum Ausdruck kam und beide in die Top drei Looks der Woche brachte.

Insgesamt war es eine Couture-Woche der Kontraste: Debüts voller Brillanz, moderne Inszenierungen und gelegentliche Vorhersehbarkeit. Die wahren Highlights waren die Häuser und Designer, die überraschten, Innovation zeigten und die Kunst der Haute Couture auf höchstem Niveau weiterentwickelten.

SUMMARY

This Haute Couture week has been a mix of surprises, elegance, and some uneven moments. Among the debuts, Dior clearly takes the lead, impressing with both its collection and presentation, while Chanel also offered unexpected moments and a lightness in its staging that balanced classic brand aesthetics. Compared to the more predictable approaches of houses like Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab or Celia Kritharioti with their floor-length gowns, corsets, glitter, feathers or fur, both Dior and Chanel felt fresh, despite some familiar tropes.

Viktor and Rolf was a bit underwhelming this season, especially given their history of experimental silhouettes and innovative looks. On the other hand, Ashi Studio surprised with exceptional materiality, delivering all three top looks on the final day, an impressive feat, particularly considering the last day often feels like a gentle closing compared to the strong start of the week.

Speaking of strong starts, Schiaparelli set the tone with one of the most impressive collections and presentations. The runway’s integration into the Petit Palais’ round shape created a more intimate atmosphere, allowing the audience to view the pieces from multiple angles, recalling the origins of couture in small salons while remaining thoroughly modern. Daniel Roseberry’s modernity continues to shine in his work.

Valentino’s „Specula Mundi“ arguably had the most modern presentation, blending techno music with couture in a dynamic round space, giving the show a contemporary edge while honoring the legacy of Valentino Garavani.

Finally, Indian craftsmanship stood out this season, with Gaurav Gupta and Rahul Mishra making a mark, both earning spots among the top three looks. Their work demonstrates that intricate artisanal techniques remain vital in today’s couture landscape.

Overall, it was a week of contrasts, debut brilliance, modern staging, and occasional predictability, but the true highlights were the houses and designers who dared to surprise, innovate, and elevate the art of couture.
